Summer Beckons …

First post of the summer! And yes, I have goals for this summer. Besides loving every single sun-soaked day and every adventure that comes my way … I also don’t want to waste a moment of precious opportunity given to me before school begins again in the fall. And so … just a few goals that I hope to accomplish by the grace of God by the time August 30th rolls around:

1)Work up to running 5 miles straight

2)Read “Anna Karenina”

3)Finish my Capernwray scrapbook

Those are the big ones … things to work on all summer long. But of course, there are the dozens of smaller ones – and the ones that I have to achieve on my “22 Things” list! Including cliff jumping, making a dress, going to California, and sending a message in a bottle. Sandwiched in between there, I hope, will be popsicle eating, Ferris wheel riding, picnic excursions, croquet playing, barbecuing, and star-gazing … feeling the wind ripple through my hair, the sun warm my bare face, the grass tickle my toes, and the life of each new day coursing through my veins. This is the time to enjoy life to its fullest … so let’s start today! What kind of goals or plans do you have for the summer? Whatever they are, I hope you enjoy every minute of them and make memories for the story books!

  1. Wonderful goals, Lydia. I have just taken up jogging as of today. Oh, that was invigorating! I don't particularly have a goal of how far I want to be able to jog. I just want to get in shape!

One of my biggest goals is to make this summer memorable for the boys. I want them to remember it as one of their best summers ever, not a summer where they sat around bored all the time. We have had a good start so far….I'll tell you all about it next week. 🙂

I never did finish reading Anna Karenina. It is indeed a very well written book, however I found the story of Anna to be quite distressing. I will be interested to see what you think of it.

Another goal I have is to constantly look around me, outside my immediate family and see if there is someone I can show love to.

Summer, especially the beginning of the summer is SO invigorating…the birds singing cheerfully, the delicious scent of things growing, the beauty of the flowers, the lazy mornings where I don't have to worry about making four lunches and getting everyone out the door on time.

Well, I guess this has been a lengthy comment…:D I can't wait until next week!!!!!!!!!

  2. I wish you the best of luck on your summer endeavors. It's good you set a few realistic goals. I always try to overachieve and then I feel sad when I don't meet my unrealistic goals. 😀
