Dreamy Things

Day 17 – Lover I’m Yours

A love that lasts forever. Isn’t that we all want? A love that’s so beautiful, it makes onlookers catch their breath. A love story scripted by the finger of God … a picture of His love for us. A love that rivals all the storybooks and fairy tales … a love stronger than the forces of this world and a love that sings of One who died to make that love possible.

You might protest that I know nothing about love. After all, I’ve never been in a relationship. How could I possibly know what it takes? Just a starry-eyed optimist and idealist who doesn’t know anything about love in the real world.

You’re right. I don’t have experience. So feel free to disregard my opinions. But in the words of my dear friend, Emily, “You don’t need experience to have dreams.” And I’ve seen enough examples in my life to know that that kind of love story is possible. Which is the very reason why I’m holding out for nothing less. Love is beautiful. God made it to be so. And I trust that if He wants me to have a love story, He’ll make it happen. So as I wait, I pray for my future lover. I pray for him to be strengthened in character. I pray that we would both be working to become the people worthy of a God-honoring marriage. I pray that we would be able to wait and be patient. And I pray that our eyes would be opened when it’s just exactly the right time.

But maybe you’re not in my boat. Maybe you’ve advanced to the boat of “I already have my lover.” If so, I am beyond happy for you. Please, please don’t ever take one day with them for granted. Thank God for the incredible gift He’s given you and pray that your relationship would become stronger every day.

And if you’re in the in-between boat of dating your possible, some-day lover … pray for wisdom and guidance … pray that this is indeed the right person to be with, and if so, continue to strengthen the bonds between the two of you. If it’s not the right person, I pray that that knowledge comes quickly.

Love, the way God intended it to be, is one of my most favorite things in the whole wide world. But it cannot happen unless we are rooted and grounded in the love of our Father. So let me not get distracted by something that could easily become an idol. Let it have it’s proper place as a gift from above, and may I ever fall deeper in love with my Savior so that I can better love those around me.

Papa, I’m Your beloved. Thank You for this undeserved gift of lavished love upon me. Help me to never take it for granted. And as I wait, I pray that I would hide my love away for the one You have chosen for me. I know that if I’m patient, our love story will be the most beautiful thing on earth because You wrote it. Every day that I’m lonely or shed a tear, make me stronger in You so that I can love him better. He’s worth it. Thank You for choosing him just for me. Forever your daughter, I remain.

“Hide Your Love Away” – Anthem Lights
I don’t know your name yet
I’ve never even seen your face
I’m looking with my eyes wide open
‘Til I find you in the right time and place

Chorus:
Hide your love away and wait for me, wait for me
I will do the same, wait for me, wait for me
There will come a day when I will finally say
Staring in your eyes, I’ve waited my whole life
For this night

Every day you’ve prayed for
And I’m dreaming of you every night
Where ever you are right now
You’re already the love of my life

Chorus:
Hide your love away and wait for me, wait for me
I will do the same, wait for me, wait for me
There will come a day when I will finally say
Staring in your eyes, I’ve waited my whole life

I’m holding on for you; my heart belongs to you
You’re everything that I adore, whoa…
I’m holding on for you; my heart belongs to you
Darling your love is spoken for

Chorus:
Hide you love away and wait for me, wait for me
I will do the same, wait for me, wait for me
With every breath you take wait for me, wait for me
I will do the same, wait for me, oh, wait for me
There will come a day when finally I say
Staring in your eyes, I’ve waited my whole life
Staring in your eyes, I’ve waited my whole life
(let it ring)
For this night

I don’t know your name yet
