I with You shall find my rest.
Not in being right,
Not in winning an argument,
Not in feeling superior for my views –
But in humble surrender to You, my Lord.
I with You shall find my rest.
Not in politics,
Not in the world’s solutions,
Not in laws or orders or decrees –
But in quiet trust in Your sovereignty, my King.
I with You shall find my rest.
Not in restless distraction,
Not in noisy media,
Not in swipes, clicks, or scrolls –
But in gentle listening to You, my Father.
I with You shall find my rest.
Not in doing it all,
Not in productive checklists,
Not in good deeds or service –
But in simply resting in You, my Shepherd.
I with You shall find my rest
In humble surrender,
In disciplined prayer,
In meditation on Your Word,
In knowing Your heart, My Savior.
So draw me away
From all the exhausting distractions,
Draw me away
From the choking enticements,
Draw me away
From the noisy replacements –
And quench my thirsty soul
With Your life-giving water.
Help me to cast my burdens
Into Your arms of strength.
And guide me to cherish Your rest
Above all else.
